Victory: Republicans Sweep the House

Mr. President,

Please direct your attention to the scoreboard.  The "enemy" has swept the House with a sixty seat gain, the gap in the senate has grown significantly, and the majority of governor races have ended in their favor.  Pelosi, you have been fired.  Reid, you've lost your credibility.  No longer will we put up with your elitist, socialist agendas.  No longer will we stand by while you run up unsustainable debts and refuse to reach across party lines.  America has spoken and Mr. President, you are officially on probation.

Now is the time for representatives to live up to their title and serve their country.  Although we have held a substantial victory in these midterm elections, now is not the time to become arrogant.  Republicans have work to do and this should not be taken lightly.  Now is the time to take our country back.

My Future: 2010

Socrates believed that Democracy was a weak and broken system.  He knew that although its intentions were good, it would eventually be given over to corruption.  Due to the years under the Bush Administration, Americans were tired of week domestic policy.  So during the last presidential election, we chose a man we thought was different.  One we thought would change the corruption in Washington: someone younger, more marketable, and with the charisma of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  My generation was a large part of the movement for change that successfully elected Mr. Obama, however I believe that we have made the biggest mistake of all.  Instead of really looking at the issues we elected someone based on ingenious advertising and strategy.

We voted for change and we have definitely seen that.   Unfortunately we have also witnessed an elitist Presidential family who takes off on first class vacations every other week and a President who plays golf more then he does his job.  Without a doubt, we have seen an extreme change in policy and lifestyles.  However we have not seen a progress in our suffering economy: only an increase in wasteful spending and a decrease in transparency.  The more I hear that the economy is improving from the Democrats in office, the more I see my peers graduate college with all the hopes and dreams in the world only to realize that there is very little opportunity to succeed in the job market.  I cannot help but think that we have elected representatives that continue to campaign and deceive the American people instead of doing their job. 

This is my fear: that my fellow gen y-ers and I will bear the brunt of an irresponsible elitist government.  Tricking the American people into believing that the economy is improving is an impossible feat when Americans continue to loose jobs, downsize, and move back in with their parents. The only change we are feeling is a depressing one: the opposite of the frilly propaganda we voted for two years ago and one that will continue to paralyze our youth.

Ignorance Really Is Bliss

So obviously I've been lacking on my political passion for the past six months.  However, I am back (even if only for one post).
Six months of disaster.  The healthcare overhaul was passed at the end of february, the economy is still slow to ever recover, unemployment is at ten percent (the highest since 1970), and we seem to be going into more and more debt by the minute.  Greece followed a similar pattern: constantly throwing money at a recession thinking that it would solve a problem that must be worked out through free market enterprise.  Now, after borrowing insane amounts of money from their neighbors, they have defaulted on their debt and their economy has completely collapsed.  We continue to borrow money from China and I fear that very soon we will be in Greece's shoes.  California is already there. Having the highest unemployment rate, racked up the highest state deficit out of our fifty states, and basically being at the mercy of federal government aid.
Sadly, I can't even blame President Obama for the terrible state of our nation.  Truthfully, the blame is on us.  We are uneducated, clueless, and gullible.  Someone like Barck Obama comes along with his eloquent and enticing speeches about an ideal America and we fall victim to the lies and brainwashing.  Those that do care to stay informed and involved in our government tend to become drunk with power and take advantage of the ignorant.  We elect different parties every other term thinking that one will fix all of our problems after the other has done their damage, but maybe parties are not the answer.  Obviously Democrats and Republicans have no clue what they really believe in; it's all about gaining power and keeping the attention of their constituents.  Those who are not in power will tear down the current administration until they take back what was there's two to four years earlier.  One word can describe politics: game.  Spitting game is usually reserved to desperate single men in their teens twenties who try to get the attention of anything female that moves just so they can win the ever elusive chase and leave their victims with nothing more then terrible memories and a broken heart.  Is this not what our leaders in Washington do?  They trick us into falling in love with their platform and once they've got our votes, they use their power merely for political gain and personal agendas and leave us with nothing more then jaded.
I used to be obsessed with staying updated on current events, but I can no longer stomach all the terrible news.  The only way to stay positive is to stay ignorant.  From time to time I will check up on the state of our "great" country, but I have fallen ill to the communicable disease.  I have bought into the cliche saying "ignorance is bliss".

"Negro Dialect"

During the 2008 Presidential Election Campaign, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid stated Senator Obama was a "light skinned African American who speaks without a Negro dialect.... unless he wants one."

I really do not have the words to describe this.  Let's imagine, for a moment, that someone like Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney or Newt Gingrich had something even remotely similar.  Race riots, defaming of the republican party, and media frenzy (especially on MSNBC).  Not only did Senator Reid make such a stupid comment... former Illinois Governor Rob Blagoyavich claimed he was "blacker than President Obama." Then, there's former President Bill Clinton who said "ten years ago, President Obama would have been serving them drinks."

Aren't Democrats supposed to be the non-racists? The lovers of the minority community? Apparently that is a common misconception. After all, the Republicans are the heroes who ended slavery in America almost two hundred years ago.  So why do the Democrats win the minority votes? I guess we'll never know.

Bernie Madoff in the Senate

Good news fellow Americans!!!
The Democrats in Senate have done it again: they've pulled a Bernie Madoff and paid off a fellow representative to pass a "healthcare reform" (or rather a "shove nationalized healthcare down the throats of American citizens") bill.  Too bad I wasn't Madoff's lawyer or I would have compared his actions to those in Congress, because honestly what's the difference between laundering money and paying someone off to get your way?
Senator Mary Landrieu was guaranteed three hundred million dollars for various projects in the state of Louisiana to vote for the bill while Senator Nelson was promised more stringent laws surrounding government funded abortion.  Of course, Senator Nelson probably scored even more cash for his home state of Nebraska being the last of 60 democrats to vote in favor of the bill.
Have they even been listening to the public?  Hardly anyone wants socialized medicine and those that do have no idea that it will be way more expensive then the health insurance we have now, plus it will be rationed... So old folks, don't get too old or the government won't care for you anymore because you're simply too expensive and disposable.  And cancer patients; no chemo for you if your already in the higher stages of cancer.  Basically, all aspects of our private lives (in terms of health and if cap and trade passes: carbon emissions) will be controlled, subsidized, and completely accessible to the government, so don't have any surgeries you wouldn't want anyone to know about.
At this rate, the Democrats will squeeze through at least an expansion of Medicare which is already bankrupting the system.  So what should we do to reform healthcare?  In my opinion it should be like any other type of insurance: the employer should no longer provide health insurance plans that consumers can barely afford.  We should be able to shop for our own health insurance: this will create competition between insurance companies and drive the cost of healthcare down tremendously.  This isn't rocket science kids... we just need competition: the driving force of capitalism and democracy and the values our country were founded on.

"Climate Change"

Let's Review....

President Obama, along with other world leaders, declared a deal had been made on the final day of the Climate Summit in Copenhagen yesterday. According to the deal, developed countries are committing to cut carbon dioxide emissions by a whopping eighty percent by 2050 AND... wait for it... Funnel money to those "developing" countries to help them cut their carbon emissions. Now, I'm not sure if they realize that we have neither the scientific ability or the financial resources to even begin to "reduce our carbon footprint". But, not to worry... We can always borrow even more money from China. Oh wait! China is a developing country. Hilary Clinton even pledged that America would lend one hundred billion dollars to developing countries to go green by 2020. But it's all ok, because we're basically printing our own money now, not to mention this new "Go Green" kick will "create jobs". No need for the private sector anymore, lets all work for the government, the collective good, the bureaucrats.

Now, just for kicks lets think about the facts of "climate change"(which was originally called "global warming"). Science isn't fact, it's merely theory. AND according to other news, two of the top climatologists were unfortunately caught exchanging e-mails on how to alter scientific data to back up man made climate change. What exactly are the motives of these scientists? Hopefully not to con basically the world out of trillions of dollars in investments to "go green". Then, the governments of the world con money from the taxpayer on things like cap and trade. Uncle Sam WANTS YOU to "go green". Stop driving your car, ride your bike, and reduce your carbon footprint or it will be too late for all of us. According to Al Gore, the earth's core has heated to millions of degrees, so watch out for star-like temperatures.

Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms about saving trees and reducing pollution, however when the government starts telling me what car to drive and which cleaning products to use, I may get a little cranky. We are Americans and the government DOES NOT control our lives and we need to remain this way. Start voting, start paying attention to what's going on in the world, and let your voice be heard!! Don't let anyone control your life but yourself: you have the power.

Intro to Common Sense

As an eighteen year-old citizen of America and college student I would just like to know where all the common sense has gone in the political world? Everything that goes on in Washington is a game; a constant mine field of lies, manipulation, and corruption. What happened to the American Way? Where did the dreams of our forefathers run off to? Have we completely lost touch with what America is all about? Over the next 365 days, I will be reacting to the "news" (or infotainment as I like to call it) of the day and offer new insight as a mere college student in America. You must be thinking, "Man this kid must have too much time on her hands". But, truthfully I'm just concerned about my future and I want to do everything possible to let my voice be heard. After all, that is what my representatives in Washington hold in their hands: the key to either a bright or a very dark future.
